My 4 inch creation for this week is of a cardinal sitting on the snowy branch. This is a familiar sight to me out my kitchen picture window as there is a viburnum bush there and we often see cardinal sitting there on the snowy branches. I started this piece with Background fabric which I head either hand dyed or painted sometime ago. If I recall correctly I remember I used a white piece of fabric to wipe around my working area while dying or painting fabric. This was the piece of fabric that was created from the cleanup rag!
I made the cardinal from three different bits of red fabric just to be interesting and of course the branches are simply black fabric with a little batting placed on them for the effects of snow on the branches. This whole scenario is definitely background noise in my life at this time of winter. And how appropriate that a red cardinal is visiting us so often both in honor of Valentine's Day and Heart Month for women.

Very cute! (and pretty)
