Art Quilt: Beginning the New Year with a Stretch

After the lemon/cheerios project I am wanting to pursue more new pathways, and my next project will involve this photo as an inspiration.  I don't remember where I got this photo, it most likely came about after playing with some other photos on Photoshop and cropping and changing filters for the image, I think this is where this came from.  I liked it enough that I made a copy of it and placed it in my clipboard of ideas.  It has haunted me......it reminds me of an entrance into a dark space, maybe a cave.  It reminds me of hidden secrets, or deep troubles, or something like that.  And now I plan to interpret it in cloth, along with the other photo here of a young girl who appears sad.  so, I thought I'd share what I'm up to today.  It's a cool day in Florida, a perfect studio day if you can mange it, and I am planning to spend some time today working with this idea. It's the sort of day that I am wearing my headphones and listening to interesting music......by the way, if you do podcasts, I recommend Austin Beeman's Music for Midnight podcasts........they're about 30 minutes each, and it is an ecletic collection of music that is appropriate to chilling out, and for me, being in a creative space.  You can get them at itunes......I stumbled upon them and am enjoying them immensely.  I'll post what I did today later. Second by the way......what are you quilters doing to stretch yourself this year?  Maybe I'll issue a challenge for anyone who's interested.......stay tuned.

I am stretching myself to actually get pieces completed within the small time frame allotted me! LOL!!
I love the picture! So very moody and so many ideas crop into the mind. The little girl looks very sad. I hate to see that in children. Can't wait to see what you came up with for these two pieces!
